Basic Preventative Car Maintenance

Routine Car Maintenance Training

The Automotive Technology program at Advanced Training Institute (ATI) is designed to get students into a career field that they are passionate about.  As long as there are cars on the road there will be people needed to repair them when they fail.  Students enrolled in ATI’s Automotive Technology program are educated about the ins and outs of car maintenance, from the routine to the extraordinary.  Automotive technicians are usually the first stop when a car is having an issue.  With routine preventative maintenance, the lifespan of a car can be prolonged exponentially.  Unfortunately, many car owners are not so mechanically inclined, and either cannot or choose not to perform this maintenance that can be so profitable.

As a student of ATI’s Automotive Technology program, the skills to maintain and repair a variety of automobiles will be gained.  With this knowledge, graduates can perform routine car maintenance to ensure the proper function of the systems within a vehicle that work together to make the car run as a whole.  Proper maintenance can be the difference between a car that lasts a lifetime, and one that needs to be replaced or have expensive work done constantly.   Routine maintenance is generally limited to changing or replacing oil, oil filters, air filters, batteries, spark plugs, brake pads, and rotating tires.  To those who have never held a tool in hand, these tasks may seem quite daunting.  For a Graduate of ATI, these routine maintenance jobs are their bread and butter.

Beyond the routine, there is still more car maintenance that an ATI graduate must be prepared for.  Depending on the focus of the shop or place of business that an ATI graduate is employed at, they may be asked to perform extensive engine repairs, or complex transmission replacements.  The experience that students gain at ATI allows them to feel comfortable in a working environment, and familiar with the tools that they will use on the job every day.

For those that have a passion for the automotive industry and like to work with their hands, the Automotive Technology program at ATI is the right choice.  By allowing students to use the tools that they will be using and perform the same tasks in an environment similar to that they will be working in, ATI sets students up for success.  From a simple oil change to a more complicated job, an ATI graduate can be trusted to complete the job well.
