ATI Is A NASM Academic Partner School

You’ve heard of their reputation in personal fitness. You’ve seen their logo at the bottom of our Personal Fitness Trainer Program website page. But what does it really mean to be a NASM academic partner?

A lot actually.

The vision of the National Academy of Sports Medicine is to “empower fitness and wellness professionals, supporting them in their goal of motivating clients to lead healthier lives.” Since 1987, NASM has been a global leader in preparing fitness professionals for the certifications required to pursuing a career in personal fitness. They have also created products and services we incorporate in our Personal Fitness Trainer curriculum because it has been scientifically and clinically proven to work.

Those are just a few reasons why ATI has teamed up with NASM to deliver the best in Personal Fitness Training.

Watch this quick video to learn more behind this partnership.

In the video, we are immediately introduced to the foundational principles involved in the NASM model, including:

  • Exercise Science
  • Biomechanics
  • Kinesiology

Then, we are introduced to the Optimal Performance Training (OPT) Model, NASM’s trademark model created to gather information on a client and develop a program that takes into account the individual and the environment in which they are training. This means a program can be created for a senior citizen, someone that is obese, a professional athlete or someone with diabetes or heart disease.

It starts with an assessment, like an overhead squat assessment. From this assessment, information is gathered on how a client moves to determine which exercises would work for them. From there, the model is split into the following three levels and their appropriate phases (five):

  1. Stabilization
    • Stabilization Endurance
    • Strength Endurance
  2. Strength
    • Hypertrophy
    • Add load, mass and speed to get muscles stronger
  3. Power

In addition to the model, a NASM system includes flexibility, core, cardio and resistance training and much more to yield the best results.

“The Optimal Performance Training model yields superior results because it allows for greater core strength and it also improves balance,” says Erin McGill, NASM Director of Training & Design.

This is just a little bit behind the system we believe in and implement at ATI in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are a proud NASM partner school and believe that the NASM certification exams provides the best route to preparing students to become personal fitness trainers that truly care for their individual clients. There are other certifying entities, but NASM is the most recognized and most likely to get people like YOU hired.

Come make a difference at ATI.
