“Real Life” – As an Automotive Technician

With technology, the Internet, and social media these days, there is a lot of pressure to gain new knowledge and gain it fast. With online tutorials about nearly anything and everything, we have become a DIY (Do It Yourself) society, through which our children become musical prodigies, our household gadgets fixed with a roll of duct-tape and wire. But with this fast-paced, changing technology, there are still some things we can’t touch without the necessary knowledge and skills.

One of those skills many agree requires a professional eye is automotive technology.

All the more reason to become an Automotive Technician in Las Vegas at ATI and gain that knowledge and skill we all depend on.

“The skill level is so in depth now with the new cars and the technology behind the new cars [that] in order to diagnose the car properly you have to be skilled in your profession,” says Shane Bowden, Service Manager of Hertrich Buick GMC of Seaford.

Here at ATI, we couldn’t agree more. That is why we created an Automotive Technology Training Program that prepares students for demanding employment opportunities just like those with Hertrich Buick GMC, or any other employers seeking highly-skilled and well-trained automotive technicians. With the training you receive at ATI, you can expect that you’ll be the right person for the job after you graduate.

Watch this 6-minute clip on the “Day in the Life of an Automotive Technician” to see why we agree with Shane about becoming skilled in this profession.

In this featured video, you will see the TV co-host learning under the tutelage of world-class technician for General Motors, Doug Wilson. Their focus? A simple oil change. But what we liked about GMC’s message was that it’s never just about an oil change. So, you see in the video that when changing the oil – draining and changing the filters – you also inspect the entire undercarriage for damage, rotate tires, check brake pads and thread depth, then check fluid levels.

“With every oil change we give every customer Hertrich’s courtesy inspection,” concludes Shane. “It’s more for our customers to understand we’re looking out for them as well as their vehicle.”

And once again, we couldn’t agree more. At ATI and in our Automotive Technology Training Program, we know it’s not just about a love of cars or a simple DIY technique. We understand that this is a chance to find a rewarding, purposeful career that is hands-on and allows you to solve critical problems. It’s never just about an oil change with your car, and it’s not just about the completion of a program for us. It’s about training our students to prepare them for meaningful, direct employment opportunities to better their lives.
