Do you want a job in a growing field?

When considering a new career, it’s important to do some research into the field you are about to enter. Training for a new career takes time, energy and money. So it makes sense to find out if the field you are entering is expected to grow. If a field is expected to grow that means there should be more and more jobs available in that industry in coming years. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is expected to increase by 14% from 2014 to 2024. The BLS also states that this is much faster than the projected average growth for all other occupations. So if you are interested in a career in a growing field, the HVAC industry might be your calling!

Do you want a career that offers nationwide job opportunities?

Homes and businesses across the US rely on HVAC systems to keep their indoor atmospheres comfortable. Imagine how miserable a Las Vegas summer would be without a functioning air conditioning system! Well, it is equally uncomfortable to spend a winter in Maine without a good heater. With the heavy reliance on HVAC systems across the US comes an equally significant dependence on skilled professionals who are able to install and maintain those systems. So if you want a job that is in-demand from coast to coast, becoming an HVAC technician is one way to go.

Do you want a career with advancement opportunities?

The career path of an HVAC technician can be an exciting one. Upon completing your HVAC/R training at a school like ATI, you will be qualified for entry-level HVAC positions. Such positions allow you to gain the experience employers look for when considering candidates for promotion down the line. If you remain committed to the field, you can potentially climb the career ladder to field manager, operations manager and even distribution manager. Such advancement requires hard work and dedication, but in the HVAC field, it’s an exciting and promising climb!

Do you enjoy problem-solving?

Talk about a job with the responsibility to solve problems! A career as an HVAC technician is definitely not lacking in that department. HVAC technicians may face a variety of problems in a given day, which means each day on the job is different. So if you enjoy thinking critically and you want a career that provides new experiences each day, then consider becoming an HVAC technician!

Do you want a job that balances physical and mental work?

If you excel in hands-on work or want a career change that allows you to work more with your hands, then here is one more reason to consider a career in HVAC. But do not underestimate the need to think critically and on your feet as an HVAC technician. A career as an HVAC technician requires both physical work as well as problem-solving skills, so being an HVAC technician calls for a good balance of both the physical and mental. At ATI, we prepare you for both aspects of this career.
